Attractions For Families in Florida

Written by Chloe Harwood

Going on a vacation is a great way to spend some quality time with your family because it gives you a chance to bond without the distractions of everyday life. Florida has been one of the best places to go for family vacations because there are a lot of places to visit that are fun for both adults and kids.

If you are planning a family vacation in Florida, these are some of the attractions that you should try to visit.

Wet’ n Wild Orlando.

This water park is considered to be the oldest in the United States, but it is also one of the best places to visit with your family. There are a lot of fun water rides to go on, and plenty of slides to enjoy. The Wet’ n Wild rides are rated by the shallowness/deepness of the water so you can still have a lot of fun if you have kids that aren’t very good swimmers because they can still have some fun on the less intense rides.

Like most theme parks, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from, and offer special discounted rates for people who like to book their trips in advance.

SeaWorld Orlando.

One of the best things about Florida is there are a lot of theme parks to choose from. At SeaWorld, you and your family can see some of the most beautiful sea creatures in the world. You get to watch dolphins and killer whales perform tricks. Visitors can also sign up to feed the dolphins or even swim with them, which is a lot of fun.

SeaWorld doesn’t have roller coasters or rides like other parks, but it is still an experience the whole family can enjoy and learn a few things while doing so.

Universal Studios.

This is another great experience for the whole family because you get to enjoy a park dedicated to some of your favorite movies. There are plenty of great rides to enjoy at Universal Studios, some of which are based on movies like “The Mummy,” “Harry Potter,” “Spiderman,” “Jurassic Park,” and much more. Since there is so much to do at Universal Studios, you should make sure you spend a couple of days there to enjoy all the fun the park has to offer.

Walt Disney World.

You can’t talk about taking a family vacation in Florida without mentioning Disney World, which is the most popular destination for families vacationing in Florida. At Disney World, you and your family will get to see a lot of your favorite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Goofy.

Walt Disney World has great rides for both little kids and adults, there is a parade on Main Street every night, followed by fireworks at the end of the day. The park also offers great live music and of course, the ever popular Space Mountain is a roller coaster ride you don’t want to miss.  The best time to visit Disney World in Florida are:

  • Jan. 3-8, Jan. 20-31
  • Feb. 1-10, Feb. 23-March 3
  • The second half of August
  • Most days in September
  • Most weekdays in October
  • Weekdays in November (minus the week of Thanksgiving)
  • Weekdays in December (minus the week of Christmas and New Year’s Eve)

Since Disney World is so big, it will take you a few days to enjoy all the fun that the park has to offer, which is why you should make sure you book your accommodations accordingly.
