Let Office Life Be A Great Life

Written by Chloe Harwood

It’s a known fact that nearly every employee will dislike coming into work. Just the thought of going into an office, that you’re stuck in for 8 hours or more a day, is just torture to some people. If everyone is honest, most of the time managers hate coming in as well. People associate office life with lifeless days spent on the computer, or on the phone. As an employer, it’s your job to spice up the office life a little and get the motivation going. Take a look at these tips on how to achieve a sweet office life.

First of all you’re going to need to get a space big enough to fill it with cool things. The best way of doing this is to build you own office space. You’ll have so much freedom in terms of where it is, what goes in it, and how it’s built. You don’t get any of that freedom with managed office spaces. Just be prepared for the cost and time frame it might take. You’ll also need to consider the cost of maintaining the building and car parks. Specialists such as hardrives-asphalt.com can manage routine concrete maintence. Whilst companies such as… can maintain anything to do with the structure of the building, such as windows or doors.

Once you’ve got the building sorted, focus on the interior. It needs to be as bright and open as possible. There’s nothing worse than feeling cooped up all day in a dull room. Create as much natural light as possible. Make three of the walls are white, and leave one for a brightly coloured feature wall. Maybe paint some multicoloured motivational slogans will help to lift the mood. The focus should be just on making it as open, bright, and inviting as possible.

Next, you’re going to need some form of area for people to switch off for a while. It’s so common for people to work, then eat, then work some more at their desk. Make the office a little more fun and inviting, and it’ll give employees a chance to express themselves. A chill out corner complete with bean bags, a vending machine, magazines, a TV, or even a gaming console is perfect for people to let loose in. It gives them a space to get away from the stresses of the phones or computer, and will really help concentration when they return.

One final little addition to make is having the best technology. So many companies are still in the stone age when it comes to computers, and there’s nothing worse than working on a computer that’s stuck behind the times. They’re slow, annoying, and really don’t aid business at all. Get the most up to date tech and it’ll make it so much more fun to work with. Long gone will be the stresses of a broken or slow computer.

Office life really can be fun if you make it. You just need to know what to put in there to make it great.
