Is your office a little bit small for your growing business? Do you trip over one another and fight over the printer? It might be time for you to upgrade! Upgrading isn’t always necessary; sometimes all you need to do is have a bit of a re-jig and everything goes back to normal. Take a look at these signs to see if you need to upgrade your office:
Your Employees Struggle to Work Remotely
One option you have rather than upgrading, is to have some employees work remotely. After all, you don’t need to be in the same room to do your work and collaborate, right? There are a ton of programs and systems you can use these days to make the whole process stress free. However, when your employees struggle to work remotely, it could be time to upgrade. They may struggle because your system can’t handle it. It might not work for a number of other reasons. Whatever it is, working together well is essential whether you’re in the same room or not. It could be time to upgrade if working remotely isn’t an option!
Your Internet Connection is Slow and Unreliable
The more people you have in the office, the slower your internet connection could become. This isn’t always the case, but it can happen. You probably use a lot of different tools to keep your business up and running, but if your connection can’t handle it, you may need to upgrade. You don’t want to crash your system or hinder your productivity in any way!
You’re Growing Quickly
If you’re growing quickly, or you could grow quickly, you should upgrade. Too many businesses don’t upgrade, don’t have room for more staff, and can’t grow as a result. You should never stop your business from growing if it’s possible! Even if an extra staff member can help you get more done, it’s worth upgrading. Start looking at bigger offices. Don’t worry, you can still stay ‘small’. Just make sure you’re not holding your business back.
You’re Banging Elbows
All of your employees should have a certain amount of space to themselves. None of you should feel like you’re invading space, or bang elbows. Everybody needs a bit of room to move without having to scooch someone out the way or move things around. You might not think it makes a difference and that you’re saving money, but you can hinder productivity this way. Your employees will likely get things done faster if you give them the space they need. Not only that, they’ll be more content at work. Content employees means harder working, more productive employees! Make sure you keep your employees happy in other ways too, like acknowledging their hard work and offering rewards.
Do you think it’s time for you to upgrade your office? If it means you can get more work done and have a happier team of employees, then it’s definitely worth it! Leave any thoughts you might have below. Thanks for reading!
