Things You Need to Look Out For When You Check into a Hotel Room

Written by Chloe Harwood

If you have managed to find the right hotel and at the right price then you will understand what a great feeling this is. You may already feel as though your trip is a huge success, but before you go ahead and unpack all of your belongings and head out into the big wide world, there are a couple of things that you need to check. After all, you have to make sure that the hotel is up to your standards and you also need to make sure that everything is what you hoped it would be.

The first thing that you should do is make sure that the amenities are up to the high standard you deserve. You need to make sure that there is enough soap, conditioner, shampoo and that there is a hairdryer in your hotel room as well. If you were promised these amenities when you bought the room then you need to make sure that they are delivered. Think, is there anything missing? The last thing you’ll want is to get in the shower, only to find that there isn’t any soap or even if there aren’t any towels, as this could cause you to experience a mini-disaster.

A lot of hotels have a hotel bed bug removal service to stop any bedbugs from being present but if you are going abroad then this may not always be the case. If you want to avoid all of this then one thing that you can do is make sure that you check the seams of the mattress and that you also check behind the headboard as well. When you do this, you can easily make sure that there are no creepy crawlies present before you unpack. If you do see signs of eggs or anything else of the sort, pack up your belongings immediately and report it to the front desk.

Mini Bar

A lot of people like to make good use of any bottles or nuts that may be on offer in the mini bar. If you get to your room and you find that there are only two cans and there are meant to be three then make sure that you report this because you may end up getting charged for it. They are never cheap, and even if you didn’t use them, there is no proof that they were missing when you got there if you don’t report it so do keep that in mind.

There is no way that you need to get down on your knees to look for damages but it does help to give the room a quick check over to make sure that there aren’t any problems. You need to make sure that everything is in complete working order and that your remote control works as well. If you know that there is a hole in the wall or if the remote is snapped in half then make sure that you report this so you don’t get charged for it. This is one of the best ways for you to avoid any charges for something that you didn’t actually do.
